Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”
I slowly descended the softly padded stairs following the sound of my children’s giggles. Freshly brewed coffee lingered in the air. Gentle chiding floated to my ears as my husband attempted to make the children wait for Mom before they began their anticipated hunt for gooey chocolate eggs.
My eyes lifted to greet a most brilliant picture. Standing at the threshold of my frosty front door, I witnessed the rapid and steady descent of fluffy wet snow. On this early April morn you’d think my soul would whither at the sight of winter’s fury since we had had nothing but sunshine and balmy spring weather for some time now. That in itself an unusual gift for the greyness of the season is usually slow to dissolve. But, my soul did not react in sadness for my spirit was soaring at the picture of God’s promise.
In my heart- God’s dwelling place- I felt His Spirit speak to my weary soul and revive my sleepy body: “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
Like the ground was being covered in a blanket of white, my Spirit too was being covered by the cleanliness of winter’s final brushstroke.
And we know that April is upon us so the snow in all its glory is fleeting. It will dissipate like a vapour into the cool thin air.
And we know that the last days are upon us, and the world in all its glory is fleeting. Our physical lives are like a vapour and will dissipate into the earth around us.
And we know that He rose again so that all which is worrisome to us need not be for much longer. He rose so that neither you nor I should whither in a dark and dirty grave. He rose so that you and I may walk in freedom. He rose so that eternal life may be our reality. Now we must shout it from the snow-covered rooftops and give praise to His glorious miracle.
And we know that through this miracle a truth exists for us to stand upon this very day:
Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
And we know.
