I pulled my car up into the driveway taking notice of the lush colourful urns flanking either side of garage doors. Slowly but surely the roots of the flowers I meticulously planted into the pots have taken root and the abundance of their leaves are becoming noticeable to the eye.
When I first planted these flowers they were pitiful little sprouts that appeared to drown within the large black container. But I chose wisdom and had taken the well laid out advice of the master gardener, trusting in her comforting words that my patience and perseverance would pay off in the end.
When we first begin the journey of submitting our finances to The Lord by giving our first fruits in the act of tithing and opening our pocket book to give and bless others, we often feel like our submission is akin to pitiful little sprouts in a garden pot. It may seem like our small gestures are lost in the sea of heaven’s bounty, but rest assured that these acts of submission are of great importance for they are laying roots into the foundation of our faith.
Zechariah 8:12, For I am planting seeds of peace and prosperity among you. The grapevines will be heavy with fruit. The earth will produce its crops, and the heavens will release the dew. Once more I will cause the remnant in Judah and Israel to inherit these blessings.
So let us move forward and be encouraged knowing that as the roots are beginning to take place, great seeds are being birthed into existence beneath the dark warm dirt. We desperately desire to know that our labour has worth for no one desires to labour in vain. But God knows and sees our labour… and it is by His hand that our financial seeds will grow. And let us take note and remember that we must be diligent and do what is required of us. For my little flowers to grow they needed constant care and attention, the roots receiving the water and nourishment they so desperately need. When we are pressing into Jesus, following His commandments for our financial health, soon enough we will start to see our financial fruits grow and our needs met.
Father, as we move forward putting your principles into action, help us to have the patience, perseverance, and faith, to keep pressing forward allowing the roots to deepen. In Jesus name, Amen.
