While standing with a friend in conversation, she bared her soul and shared that it had been an emotional day. Financial obligations and life’s overwhelming needs had caused her to shed an abundance of tears. The weight of it all had taken a toll on her fragile spirit.

She needed to reach out for help which left her fighting a small war of sorts with her pride. I affirmed my dear friends pain sharing that I too had been in her place before. And I am sure that at one time or another nearly all of us have been in her shoes. Life is often an emotional war of high’s and low’s, twists and turns. But life is just life, no one person holds a special ticket that exempts them from the battle.

I do not personally believe that God doesn’t give us more than we can handle. There is overmuch in this life that I could not handle. Even the small stuff I sweat sometimes. I believe that The Lord promises us that no matter what it is that we are facing, no matter the situation or circumstance we finds ourselves drowning in, no matter the conflict or fight, He will carry us through it. And when you go through something, be sure to know you will come out the other side. And a little wiser too.

Philippians 4:7, And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

It is this promise that gives us the peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace spreads like a milky warmth over your soul and spirit. When we are taking all of our fears and worries to Jesus, His presence in the midst of the emotional storm is made known by this nearly indescribable gift from the Holy Spirit. It is this peace of mind that brings us great clarity, knowledge, wisdom, and insight into whatever it is with which we are struggling.

The enemy will attempt to use all matter of fear in order to steal, kill and destroy this peace. Let us grow in wisdom to know his tactical methods, but be assured that when we are taking these thoughts captive in this waging war- and taking them to the cross- peace is our great reward after the battle.

Jesus, whatever we may be facing this day, may we wield our weapons wisely taking captive the thoughts that cause us unrest. Thank you for your great peace and presence as you carry us through. In Jesus name, Amen.
