In our culture we are often encouraged to map out our lives; map out our future. We’re all trying to put our mark on the map one way or another. We strive to achieve goals and deadlines that will somehow add to our legacy. We exist in a culture that puts people upon pedestals and platforms only to shake them or completely knock them down.

Perhaps we should look at our mark on the map in a different light. Perhaps we should look at our life not as a map, but as a blueprint that has been sketched out by a master architect. As the blueprint begins to unfold, there comes along those who have the wisdom and knowledge to take the blueprint from the Master architect and give it life. There are those with different gifts and abilities who come alongside in the process.

The book of Isaiah in the Old Testament gives us the most comprehensive prophetic picture of Jesus. The bulk of those early chapters in Isaiah detail judgments against the nation of Judah who have turned their backs on the Lord. On the other hand, we also see God’s faithfulness to His promise. God miraculously holds out hope to this unrepentant people, offering cleansing of sins and the blessing that comes with faith and obedience in Him.

The blueprints of our lives are unfolding every minute of every day, but in order for us to reach our greatest potential we must first begin with a solid foundation of hope in Jesus. Knowing who we are in Him and how beloved we are to Him- whether we have known Him our whole lives or just encountered Jesus yesterday- has the power to unfold one of the greatest of legacy’s.

Isaiah 59:8, They don’t know where to find peace or what it means to be just and good. They have mapped out crooked roads, and no one who follows them knows a moment’s peace.
