My husband and I sat upon the end of our wrinkly unmade bed. The cat was far too curious for my liking wanting to absorb some attention for himself as our young daughter played quietly in another room. We clasped hands, bent our heads in unison, and boldly walked into the throne room of God presenting before Him everything that sat heavily upon our hearts.

It was a prayer that has happened many times as of late for we have come to recognize the stirring of the Holy Spirit bringing forth the winds of change. Over the last few years my better half and I have come to understand the great need for our prayers to be specific. These prayers of ours have become a conversation between us and God for one prayer seems to spur another. Within the sanctuary of our bedroom was us, The Lord, and the boldly voiced words of a radical dream for Jesus to take us on an adventure.

The dreams the Holy Spirit births within us are never an overnight, flash-in-the-pan type of dream. In my experience it is a dawning of sorts that slowly grows when spiritually fed and is greatly supported by the gifts and abilities uniquely given to us by the Holy Spirit. In the words of Margaret Gibb, President of Women Together International Ministries, the plans and purposes The Lord has for us can birth themselves as a vision for our lives. But a vision does not unveil itself, it unfolds itself. Each and every soul was born with a purpose for their life. Whether we ever discover our purpose and walk in it is of another nature, but let us first stand on this truth: God knew us before He formed us, and there is nothing about us that escapes the eyes of heaven.

Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

And if we were born with a purpose and plan for our life, perhaps we should set out on an adventure of discovery to know what it is. And to take an adventure with The Lord requires us to first ask boldly where to take our first step. Too often we allow the fear of failure to hold us back, allowing the enemy to nag us into executing lousy decisions, but we must be wise to recognize fear for what it really is: a tactic used by the enemy to distract us from achieving God’s best.

Father, as we awake each morning, satiated by the fresh mercies awaiting us as we arise, let us ask boldly, walk confidently, and allow your plan and purpose to unfold. Take us on an adventure with you! In Jesus name, Amen.
